Birds have strong energy, yet they are a calming presence in our lives. Pink and orange are colors associated with energy, but are toned down by line, form, and visual formatting. The backgrounds are vibrant color-scapes to juxtapose with the birds, matching their energy and vibrancy. In this painting I used background shades of blue, green and pink, and bold pink and cobalt blue stripes to stabilize the black-capped chickadee.
